Dale Hager, will assume the role of Chief of Police on August 28, 2023. Hager has served as the Administrative Captain and been an instrumental leader in the White Bear Lake community since 2014.
I liked this guy. He is tough and real. He also reminded me of my brother Mark. He has a heart for the people but a discipline to obey the law. He is strong, confident, yet compassionate. He fiercely supports his officers.
I have been in White Bear for 25 years. I have only had a few experiences with the Police Department. My favorite story is when my son David asked me if he could have a college graduation party at my house. This was 2008. David is my challenge son. He was alway pushing the envelope. Here is a look at Dave today.
So Dave comes back from Australia. He graduated from Bond University with a degree in Business Administration. He asked me if he could have a party. I said yes, as long as you agree to shut it down at 1:00 AM. Deal.
So the party starts and we have about 50 college kids descend on the house and begin to party. It get loud. About 11:00 PM my neighbors across the lake complain about the noise. The cops show up. They ask me to turn in down and I agree. Then I ask them. “Would you please come back at 1:00 AM and shut us down?” They say sure. So at 1:00 AM the cops show up with lights ablaze and shut us down. Party stops, and I am not the asshole! Now this is a police department! Working with the community to deal with uncomfortable situations that home owner do not want to have to confront their neighbors.
We have a great police department.
